Album notes
Soon after our first (Trenton) gig, Jim got a message from LoveSEXY -- a Hoboken bar where he dropped off a demo weeks prior -- about a gig. So, the boys had a second gig.
No recording was made of this gig. Several friends made the Saturday night drive up to Hoboken to see the band.
In 2015 Jim made this digital archive of whatever info he had on this gig.

Discussion
As usual, the boys broke it all down via email in the days after the gig. Here are their email exchanges. An attempt has been made to preserve the original style.
Date: Mon, 15 Jan 96 13:14:20 EST hey fellas, hey jim, i was gonna call you yesterday but i got sucked into watching hoop dreams (never saw it in its entirity). fantastic. fact is better than fiction. great gig saturday i think. solid. together. energetic. monica said that of the 3 bands we "were clearly the high energy rock and roll band". oh, sure there was the sound man problem; and the lateness (and dwindling crowd), but overall a great job. tough to hear (i could barely hear what i was singing). the crowd was into it (especially the new fans (those who had not heard the fords)). and it was fun. and just long enough. pearl was rousing as expected and monkey was a great finish too (good we didn't go longer (it was 2am anyway)). it was a full sound. gotta run. later. Date: Tue, 16 Jan 1996 16:27:08 EST From: MX%"CHASE@FDUSVR1.FDU.EDU" 16-JAN-1996 14:33:01.54 jim great gig. it was a blast. I already sent anthony a commentary so i'll probably end up repeatting myself. i think aaron does a great job. he seems to anchor the songs. anthony's playing seems to have improved but i cautioned him against the overuse of the flanger. the sound seems too thin and with the extra volume it stole from yout countering groove. your bass sounded great., is it a new axe? Aaron's stabilizing of the rythm section seems to help your playing (not that there was anything wrong with it before) Is aaron going to keep playing with both bands? is it a problem coordinating rehearsals or future gigs? i hope the pictures come out and i will bring the video to the next gig. unfortunately its on a thursday night the only night i have class but it might not be a problem if you go on later than ten. i didn't even get to talk to lisa's siblings. is the djakarta gig over? i would have liked to hear their impressions on it. it was a good turnout but somewhat shy of the 40 promised. did the owner call you on that. my one friend and i both came in without being charged a cover. Do we owe the band that ten bucks or what? the band needs to be less nervous before the gig. you guys sounded good and did a great job. relax, you know what youre doing or at least appear to. i'm even getting used to the new name. i don't actively hate it any more but it still doesn't quite seem right. i have been describing the band as good, basic rock and roll with original songs. if that is misleading or offensive let me know and i'll adjust. but keep it short so i can remember it. chase |
