Every MP3 file includes artist, title, album, and date info as well as album cover art.
Album notes
The original source recording was from a recordable Walkman that Jim duct-taped to the wall near his bass amp. In 2006 Jim digitized these files from the cassette playing through the same Walkman. In 2010 Jim re-did the web page in a more modern style for re-sharing with the band.
Lorain and Pearl didn't make it to tape. Jim flipped the cassette tape, but must have messed up on pressing Record.
This was alt.sex.dentist's sixth gig (of eight all-time gigs) and second gig (of four) at LoveSEXY.
Discussion
As usual, the boys broke it all down via email in the days after the gig. Here are their email exchanges. An attempt has been made to preserve the original style.

Date: Mon, 6 May 1996 10:21:10 -0400 (EDT) hey boys, another good gig. lots of equipment troubles, but overall everyone who saw us said we were good. even stafford said we were good, and that is literally the first time he has ever had ANYTHING complimentary about us! jim, have you listend to the tape. i am dying to hear garden state! if you listen hard enough you could probably hear the sweat pouring out of my forehead on that song, as i realize that i have no working instrument to play during the last minute of the song! ajm |
Date: Mon, 06 May 96 12:47:52 EDT hey fellas, a good and fun gig once again. despite the technical difficulties we rose to the occasion. and yes, everyone who had seen us the first time at lovesexy said we were tighter and better this time. also, the sound man was very impressed and liked us alot (for whatever that's worth). so what's next.............? not shirley |
Date: Mon, 06 May 96 13:47:31 EDT hey fellas, so i'd like to get together some time soon (when who knows?) to record a quick acoustic demo, for our coffeehouse tour in the future. you're both busy the next two weekends and then it's memorial day and then i start my class, so maybe a weeknight? that was a fun gig (and so relaxing despite the technical turmoil). i hope we can keep this up. aaron's other guitarist dan was a nice guy, but i'm confused (as usual) by his band. i thought their singer was the big deal, and he tells you and me jim that he just fired her and got another one(?). and supposedly he books bands for a living yet the next boots gig is 3 weeks away on a tuesday(?). what a big scheistery business this 90s band business is. Just alotta hooey. anyway. ya' gotta love playing live. later. tjr |
Date: Fri, 10 May 1996 23:12:35 EST Aaron, Funny, funny, Aaron. =:-P Hey, did you listend to the Doc Watson's gig tape yet? What did you think? Not bad, eh? The LoveSEXy tape came out so-so. I missed the opening chords of MY STREET. And, when I flipped the tape 3/4 of the way through the set, it didn't record the last 3 or 4 songs. Plus, the quality wasn't up to the Doc Watson's quality. But it was OK enough to hear what was going on. Suprisingly the pause after MY STREET and before INSTRUMENTAL E wasn't really that long. Ant did a quick switch. The pause when you broke your bass drum pedal, though, was muuuuuccccchhhhh looooonnnnggggeerrrr. ;-) And then when Ant's guitar was going out of tune during GARDEN STATE BUILDING you can practically hear him sweating. But, a good, fun time. And the crowd liked us. We had a much better sound and mix than the first LoveSEXY. And we're a pretty tight band now. And, we can respond under pressure. Good gig. Fun gig. Plus ... we draw decent there. All for now. --Jim |
